"I can't," said Pooh. "I'm face downwards under something, and that, Piglet, is a very bad position for looking at ceilings."
「見れないよ。」プーは言いました。「ボクの顔は何かの下敷きになって下を向いてるんだ。ピグレット、天井を見るには難しい状況なんだ。」
"Well, he has, Pooh."
「ねえ。彼は、プー。」
"Perhaps he's changed it," said Pooh. "Just for a change."
「たぶん彼は変えたんだろうね。気分転換だ。」プーは言いました。

There was a disturbance behind the table in the other corner of the room,
部屋の別の隅のテーブルの後ろで騒ぎがありました。
and Owl was with them again.
そして、アウルが再び現れました。
"Ah, Piglet," said Owl, looking very much annoyed; "where's Pooh?"
「あー、ピグレット。」アウルはとてもいらいらして言いました。「プーはどこ？」

"I'm not quite sure," said Pooh.
「よく分からない」プーは言いました。
Owl turned his voice, and frowned at as much of Pooh as he could see.
アウルは彼の声の方を向いて、この上なくしかめ面をして、プーを見ました。
"Pooh," said Owl severely, "did you do that?"
「プー。」アウルは厳しく言いました。「キミがやったのか？」
"No," said Pooh humbly. "I don't think so."
「違うよ。」プーは控えめに言いました。「そうは思わない。」
"Then who did?"
「じゃあ、誰がやったんだ？」

"I think it was the wind," said Piglet. "I think your house has blown down."
「風だと思うよ。キミの家は吹き倒されたんだ。」ピグレットは言いました。
"Oh, is that it? I thought it was Pooh."
「そう？プーがやったのかと思った。」
"No," said Pooh.
「違うよ。」プーは言いました。
"If it was the wind," said Owl, considering the matter, "then it wasn't Pooh's fault. No blame can be attached to him."
「もし風だったら、」アウルはそのことを考えて、言いました。「その時はプーが悪いんじゃない。責任を彼に押し付ける訳にはいかない。」

With these kind words he flew up to look at his new ceiling.
これらの優しい言葉とともに、彼は飛び上がって新しい天井を見ました。
"Piglet!" called Pooh in a loud whisper.
「ピグレット！」大きなささやき声でプーが呼びました。

Piglet leant down to him.
ピグレットは彼の方に身を傾けました。
"Yes, Pooh?"
「何、プー？」
"What did he say was attached to me?"
「彼は何をボクに押し付けたって言ったの？」
"He said he didn't blame; you."
「キミは悪くないって言ったんだよ。」
"Oh! I thought he meant-- Oh, I see."
「おう！てっきり彼はーおう、分かった。」
"Owl," said Piglet, "come down and help Pooh."
「アウル、」ピグレットは言いました。「下りてきてプーを助けてよ。」

Owl, who was admiring his letter-box, flew down again.
アウルは自分の郵便受け自慢げに見ていたが、再び下りてきました。
Together they pushed and pulled at the arm-chair, and in a little while Pooh came out from underneath,
彼らは二人で肘掛け椅子を押して、しばらくするとプーが下から出てきました。
and was able to look round him again.
そして再びまわりを見ることができるようになりました。
"Well!" said Owl. "This is a nice state of things!"
「さて！素敵な状態になったものだ！」アウルは言いました。
"What are we going to do, Pooh? Can you think of anything?" asked Piglet.
「どうしよう、プー？何か思いつける？」ピグレットは尋ねました。
"Well, I had just thought of something," said Pooh. "It was just a little thing I thought of."
「そうだね、ちょうど思いついたんだ。」プーは言いました。「ちょっとしたことなんだけど。」 そして彼は歌い始めました。
