Piglet was comforted by this, and in a little while they were knocking and ringing very cheerfully at Owl's door.
ピグレットはこれに慰められて、しばらくして、彼らは元気よくアウルの玄関をノックしてベルを鳴らしました。
"Hallo, Owl," said Pooh. "I hope we're not too late for-- I mean, how are you, Owl? Piglet and I just came to see how you were, because it's Thursday."
「やあ、アウル。」プーは言いました。「遅くなってないといいけどーつまり、元気、アウル？ピグレットとボクはキミが元気か確かめに来たんだ。木曜日だからね。」
"Sit down, Pooh, sit down, Piglet," said Owl kindly. "Make yourselves comfortable."
「座れよ、プー、座れよ、ピグレット。」アウルは親切に言いました。「くつろいで。」

They thanked him, and made themselves as comfortable as they could.
彼らはありがとうと言って、とてもくつろぎました。
"Because, you see, Owl," said Pooh, "we've been hurrying, so as to be in time for--so as to see you before we went away again."
「なぜなら、いいかい、アウル。」プーは言いました。「ボクらは急いでいるんだ。間に合うように ー 再び出かける前にキミに会えるように。」
Owl nodded solemnly.
アウルは厳かに頷きました。
"Correct me if I am wrong," he said, "but am I right in supposing that it is a very Blusterous day outside?"
「間違えてたら、言って。」彼は言いました。「外はとても風が強いと思うけど間違ってる？」

"Very," said Piglet, who was quietly thawing his ears, and wishing that he was safely back in his own house.
「とても強い。」ピグレットは言いました。静かに耳を温めながら、自分の家に無事に戻ることを願いました。
"I thought so," said Owl. "It was on just such a blusterous day as this that my Uncle Robert, a portrait of whom you see upon the wall on your right, Piglet, while returning in the late forenoon from a-- What's that?"
「そうだと思った。」アウルは言いました。「こんなに風が強いので、ボクのロバート叔父さん、ほらキミの右の壁にかかってるポートレート、ピグレット、昼近くに帰ってくる途中にーあれは何？」

There was a loud cracking noise.
大きな割れる音がしました。
"Look out!" cried Pooh. "Mind the clock! Out of the way, Piglet! Piglet, I'm falling on you!"
「気をつけて！」プーは叫びまし。「時計に気をつけて！どいて、ピグレット！、ピグレット、ボクはキミの上に落ちてるよ！」
"Help!" cried Piglet.
「助けて！」ピグレットは叫びました。

Pooh's side of the room was slowly tilting upwards and his chair began sliding down on Piglet's.
部屋のプーがいる方がゆっくりと上のほうに傾き、彼のイスがピグレットの上に滑り始めました。
The clock slithered gently along the mantelpiece, collecting vases on the way, until they all crashed together on to what had once been the floor, but was now trying to see what it looked like as a wall.
時計は暖炉にそってゆっくり滑って、滑りながら花瓶を集めて、かつて床だったところ、今は壁のようになっているところにガチャンとぶつかって割れました。
Uncle Robert, who was going to be the new hearthrug, and was bringing the rest of his wall with him as carpet, met Piglet's chair just as Piglet was expecting to leave it,
ロバート叔父さん、炉の前の敷物のようになっていましたが、壁の残りといっしょにカーペットのようにめくれて、ちょうどピグレットが離れようとしていたイスにぶつかりました。
and for a little while it became very difficult to remember which was really the north. When there was another loud crack .. . Owl's room collected itself feverishly... and there was silence.
そしてしばらくどちらが北か分からなくなって、また別の大きな割れる音がした時・・・ アウルの部屋は熱狂したようにものが集まって・・・そして 沈黙がありました。
In a corner of the room, the table-cloth began to wriggle.
部屋の隅にテーブル・クロスがよじり始めました。
Then it wrapped itself into a ball and rolled across the room.
それからボールのように丸くなって部屋を転がりました。
Then it jumped up and down once or twice, and put out two ears.
それから１度か２度ジャンプして２つの耳を出しました。
It rolled across the room again, and unwound itself.
それは再び部屋を転がって、広がりました。
"Pooh," said Piglet nervously.
「プー。」ピグレットはびくびくして言いました。
"Yes?" said one of the chairs.
「何だい？」イスの一つが言いました。
"Where are we?"
「どこにいるの？」

"I'm not quite sure," said the chair.
「よくわからない。」イスは言いました。
"Are we--are we in Owl's House?"
「ボクらはーまだアウルの家にいるの？」
"I think so, because we were just going to have tea, and we hadn't had it."
「そうだと思う。なぜならちょうどお茶を飲もうとしていて、まだ飲んでいないから。」
"Oh!" said Piglet. "Well, did Owl always have a letter-box in his ceiling?"
「おう！アウルはいつも天井に郵便受けを置いてるの？」ピグレットは言いました。
"Has he?"
「そうなの？」
“Yes, look.”
「そうだよ、見て。」
