否定語を２と重ねて強い肯定の意味を表す
２重否定（強い肯定となる）の代表的なものに、
never(not)～without doing の構文がある。
会話では、cannot ～ without doing となることが多い。
例文
I cannot look at this picture without thinking of my dead grandmother.
この写真を見るといつも亡くなったおばあちゃんを思い出す。
Whenever I look at this picture, I think of my dead grandmother. と同じ意味である。
There was no one who did not feel sympathy for the victims of the accident.
その事故の犠牲者に同情を感じない人は誰もいなかった。
It is not unusual for a family to have more than one car to use in daily life.
家族が日常生活で２台以上車を持っているのは普通である。
注意
一般的には、否定＋否定で強い肯定になるが、逆に強い否定を表すこともある。
I don’t want to see you no more.
もう２度と君には会いたくない。
