"And I say, old fellow, you're taking up a good deal of room in my houseーdo you mind if I use your back legs as a towel-horse?
「それに、君は家の大半を占めているんだから、君の足をタオル掛けに使ってもいいかな？」
Because, I mean, there they areーdoing nothingーand it would be very convenient just to hang the towels on them."
「だって、つまり、君の足は何もしないでそこにあるだけだから、タオル掛けるのにとても便利なんだ。」

Bear began to sigh, and then found he couldn't bacause he was so tightly stuck; and a tear rolled down his eye, as he said:
プーはため息をつこうとしたけど、しっかりと詰まっていたのでできないことが分かりました。そして、こう言った時、涙がこぼれました。
"Then would you read a Sustaining Book, such as would help and comfort a Wedged Bear in Great Tightness?"
「じゃあ、元気の出る本を読んでね？偉大な穴に詰まったクマを慰めてくれるような。」

So for a week Christofer Robin read that sort of book at the North end of Pooh,
それで、クリストファー・ロビンは１週間、プーの北側でそのような本を読んであげました。
and Rabbit hung his washing on the South end . . .
そしてラビットは、南側で洗濯物を干しました。
and in between Bear felt himself getting slenderer and slenderer.
そしてその間、プーはだんだん痩せていくのを感じました。
And at the end of the week Christofer Robin said,"Now!"
そして１週間が過ぎて、クリストファー・ロビンは、「今だ！」と言いました。
So he took hold of Pooh's front paws and Rabbit took hold of Christofer Robin,
彼はプーの前足をつかみ、ラビットはクリストファー・ロビンをつかみました。
and all Rabbit's friends and relations took hold of Rabbit, and they all pulled together. . . .
そしてラビットの友達や親戚がラビットをつかみ、みんなで一緒に引っ張りました。
And for a long time Pooh only said "Ow!" . . .
And "Oh!" . . .
And then, all of a sudden, he said "Pop!" just as if a cork were coming out of a bottle.
長い間プーは「おっ！おっ！」とだけ言って、突然、彼はまるでコルク栓がビンから抜けるように、「ポン！」と言いました。
And Christofer Robin and Rabbit and all Rabbit's friends and relations went head-over-heals backwards . . . and top of them came Winnie-the-Pooh ー free! So, with a nod of thanks to his friends, he went on with his walk through the forest, humming proudly to himself.
そして、クリストファー・ロビンとラビットとその友達や親戚は後ろにひっくり返り、プーがその上に ー 抜けた！ そして、友達に感謝の頷きをして、森を誇らしげにハミングしながら、歩いて立ち去りました。

But, Christofer Robin looked after him lovingly, and said to himself, "Silly old Bear!"
でも、クリストファー・ロビンは彼の後姿を見ながら、「バカなクマだな。」と思いました。
