"What's all this?" said Eeyore.
「これは何？」イーヨーは言いました。
Rabbit explained.
ラビットは説明しました。
"What's the matter with his old house?"
「彼の前の家はどうしたの？」
Rabbit explained.
ラビットは説明しました。
"Nobody tells me," said Eeyore. "Nobody keeps me Informed. I make it seventeen days come Friday since anybody spoke to me."
「誰も教えてくれない。」イーヨーは言いました。「誰も情報をくれない。誰かが最後にボクに話しかけてから、こんどの金曜日で１７日になるよ。」

"It certainly isn't seventeen days--"

"Come Friday," explained Eeyore.
「今度の金曜日でだよ。」イーヨーは説明しました。
"And today's Saturday," said Rabbit. "So that would make it eleven days. And I was here myself a week ago."
「今日は土曜日だよ。」ラビットは言いました。「だから１１日だよ。それに１週間前にボクはここに来たよ。」
"Not conversing," said Eeyore. "Not first one and then the other. You said 'Hallo' and Flashed Past. I saw your tail a hundred yards up the hill as I was meditating my reply. I had thought of saying 'What?'--but, of course, it was then too late."
「話はしていない。」イーヨーは言いました。「最初の会話も次の会話も。キミは『やあ』と言ったら、もう姿が見えなくなっていた。ボクは返事を考えていると、キミは１００ヤード先の丘の上でキミの尻尾が見えたよ。『何？』と言おうとしてたんだ。でも、もちろん、手遅れだったけどね。」
"Well, I was in a hurry."

"It's your fault, Eeyore. You've never been to see any of us. You just stay here in this one corner of the Forest waiting for the others to come to you. Why don't you go to them sometimes?"
「キミが悪いんだよ、イーヨー。キミはボクたちの誰にも会いに来ない。キミは森のこの横丁にいて、他のものが来るのを待っているだけ。どうして時にはキミのほうから出かけないの？」

Eeyore was silent for a little while, thinking.
イーヨーはしばらく黙って考えていました。
"There may be something in what you say, Rabbit," he said at last. "I have been neglecting you. I must move about more. I must come and go."
「キミの言うことには一理ある、ラビット。」彼はついに言いました。「ボキはキミたちを無視していた。もっと動き回らなくては。ボクは行ったり来たりしなくちゃ。」
"That's right, Eeyore. Drop in on any of us at any time, when you feel like it."
「そうだよ、イーヨー。いつでもボクらを訪ねておいでよ。来たい時に。」
"Thank-you, Rabbit. And if anybody says in a Loud Voice 'Bother, it's Eeyore,' I can drop out again."
「ありがとう、ラビット。もし誰かが大きな声で『ちぇっ、イーヨーか。』って言ったら、すぐに退散するよ。」

Rabbit stood on one leg for a moment.

"Well," he said, "I must be going. I am rather busy this morning."

"Good-bye," said Eeyore.
「さよなら。」イーヨーは言いました。
"What? Oh, good-bye. And if you happen to come across a good house for Owl, you must let us know."
「何？おーさよならか。もしアウルにいい家がたまたま見つかったら、知らせてね。」
"I will give my mind to it," said Eeyore.
「気をつけとくよ。」イーヨーは言いました。 ラビットは行きました。
