Roo was silent for a little while, and then he said,

"Shall we eat our sandwiches, Tigger?"

And Tigger said,

"Yes, where are they?"
「そうだね、どこにあるの？」と言いました。
And Roo said,
ルーは、
"At the bottom of the tree."
「木の下だよ。」と言いました。
And Tigger said,
そしてティガーは、
"I don't think we'd better eat them just yet."
「今はまだ食べないほうがいいかもね。」と言いました。

So they didn't.
それで、彼らは食べませんでした。
By-and-by Pooh and Piglet came along.
やがて、プーとピグレットがやってきました。
Pooh was telling Piglet in a singing voice that it didn't seem to matter, if he didn't get any fatter, and he didn't think he was getting any fatter, what he did;
プーはピグレットに歌うように『もし太らなくても問題ない。それに太っているとは思わない。彼がしたことは。』と言っていました。
and Piglet was wondering how long it would be before his haycorn came up.
ピグレットはどんぐりが出てくるまでにどれくらいかかるだろうと思っていました。
"Look, Pooh!" said Piglet suddenly. "There's something in one of the Pine Trees."
「見て、プー。」突然ピグレットが言いました。「松の木に何かがいるよ。」
"So there is!" said Pooh, looking up wonderingly.
「そうだね。」何だろうと見上げながら、プーは言いました。
"There's an Animal."
「動物がいるよ。」
Piglet took Pooh's arm, in case Pooh was frightened.
ピグレットは、プーが怖がらないように、プーの腕をつかみました。
"Is it One of the Fiercer Animals?" he said, looking the other way.
「恐ろしい動物かな？」彼は別の方を見ながら言いました。
Pooh nodded.
プーは頷きました。
"It's a Jagular," he said.
「ジャグラーだ。」彼は言いました。

"What do Jagulars do?" asked Piglet, hoping that they wouldn't.
「ジャグラーって何をする？」ピグレットは何もしないことを願って、尋ねました。
"They hide in the branches of trees, and drop on you as you go underneath," said Pooh. "Christopher Robin told me."
「彼らは木の枝に隠れて、下を通るものに襲いかかるんだ。クリストファー・ロビンが教えてくれた。」プーは言いました。
"Perhaps we better hadn't go underneath, Pooh. In case he dropped and hurt himself."
「じゃあ、木の下に行かないほうがいいね、プー。彼が落ちて、怪我するといけないので。」

"They don't hurt themselves," said Pooh. "They're such very good droppers."
「ジャグラーは怪我しないよ。落ちるのが上手なんだ。」プーは言いました。
Piglet still felt that to be underneath a Very Good Dropper would be a Mistake,
ピグレットは木の下に行けば、どんなに落ちるのが上手であっても、失敗することもあるだろうと思いました。
and he was just going to hurry back for something which he had forgotten when the Jagular called out to them.
彼は忘れ物を取りに帰ろうとしたまさにその時、ジャグラーが彼らに叫びました。
"Help! Help!" it called.
「助けて！助けて！」と叫びました。

"That's what Jagulars always do," said Pooh, much interested. "They call 'Help! Help!' and then when you look up, they drop on you."
「あれがジャグラーがいつもすることなんだ。」プーは興味深く言いました。「彼らは『助けて！助けて！』と叫んで、見上げたところを襲うんだ。」
"I'm looking down," cried Piglet loudly, so as the Jagular shouldn't do the wrong thing by accident.
「ボクは下を向いてるよ。」ピグレットは、ジャグラーが誤って悪いことをしないように、大声で叫びました。
Something very excited next to the Jagular heard him, and squeaked:
その声を、ジャグラーの隣にいた何か興奮したものが聞いて、かん高い声で言いました。
"Pooh and Piglet! Pooh and Piglet!"
「プー、ピグレット！プー、ピグレット！」
All of a sudden Piglet felt that it was a much nicer day than he had thought it was.
突然、ピグレットは今日は思っていたより天気がいいと感じました。
All warm and sunny-
暖かくて、晴れててーー

"Pooh!" he cried. "I believe it's Tigger and Roo!"
「プー！きっとティガーとルーだよ。」彼は叫びました。
"So it is," said Pooh. "I thought it was a Jagular and another Jagular."
「そうみたいだね。」プーは言いました。「ジャグラーともう１匹のジャグラーかと思った。」
"Hallo, Roo!" called Piglet. "What are you doing?"
「やあ、ルー！何してるの？」ピグレットが叫びました。
"We can't get down, we can't get down!" cried Roo. "Isn't it fun? Pooh, isn't it fun, Tigger and I are living in a tree, like Owl, and we're going to stay here for ever and ever. I can see Piglet's house. Piglet, I can see your house from here. Aren't we high? Is Owl's house as high up as this?"
「下りれないんだ。下りれないんだ！」ルーは叫びました。「楽しいだろ？プー、楽しいだろ？ティガーとボクは木の上で暮らしてるんだ、アウルみたいに。ずーっとここにいるつもりだよ。キミの家も見えるよ、ピグレット。ここから見えるんだ。高いだろ？アウルの家もこんなに高いの？」

"How did you get there, Roo?" asked Piglet.
「どうやって登ったんだ、ルー？」ピグレットは尋ねました。
"On Tigger's back! And Tiggers can't climb downwards, because their tails get in the way, only upwards, and Tigger forgot about that when we started, and he's only just remembered. So we've got to stay here for ever and ever—unless we go higher. What did you say, Tigger? Oh, Tigger says if we go higher we shan't be able to see Piglet's house so well, so we're going to stop here."
「ティガーの背中に乗って！でもティガーは下りれないんだ。なぜなら尻尾がじゃまして、登るだけ。ティガーは登り始めたとき、そのことを忘れてて、今思い出したんだ。だからボクらはいつまでもここにいなきゃいけないんだ。ーもっと高く登る以外はね。何て言った、ティガー？ああ、ティガーが言ったのは、もっと高く登ったら、ピグレットの家は見えなくなるだろう、って。だからここにいるんだよ。」
